Where can you drive with a licence obtained through an age exception permit?

You can apply to Traficom for an age exception permit. With an age exception permit, you can get a B driving licence already at 17. Traficom grants the age exception permit if there are special grounds for it.

The exception permit can be granted if the young person has a regular and justified need to travel by car to school (upper secondary studies), to workplace-arranged training, to work, to a goal-oriented and regular hobby, or for health reasons.

The reasonable-distance thresholds must be exceeded for all application grounds: the travel must be necessary at least four times a week one way (a round trip counts as two), the distance must be over 7 km, and at least one of the following conditions must also be met: no public transport connections are available, or the one-way journey by public transport takes at least 1.5 hours.

Only one application ground can be selected per application, and it must be accompanied by the mandatory attachment corresponding to that ground.
